Belorussian Company to Start Manufacturing New Non-woven Materials for Disposable Medical Products
In 2009, Svetlogorsk-based chemical company Khimvolokno plans to start manufacturing new non-woven hydrobonded materials for the application in disposable medical and hygienic products, the head of the company"s marketing department Tatiana Gorina said to BelTA.
Polypropylene will be used as a raw material for low-density synthetic fabric, informed Tatiana Gorina. These materials reduce the possibility of infections in surgery and traumatic injury units, as well as obstetrical units. Besides, such materials will find many uses in the manufacturing of kid"s and women"s hygienic products.
The company is now preparing the site for installation of the new equipment supplied by German machinery maker Reifenhauser (Troisdorf) with the designed capacity of about 5,000 tpy. A pilot batch of propylene-based materials will be turned out in the mid-2009.
However, potential customers will be able to see sample products by the end of this spring. Khimvolokno will also exhibit the non-woven hydrobonded materials at the IV textile expo Techtextil Russia 2008 in Moscow. Founded in 1964, SPA Khimvolokno is a large Belorussian petrochemical company and is a part of petrochemical concern Belneftekhim. The company incorporates enterprises, which produce textile threads and artificial fibres, polymeric materials and consumer goods.
